Disposable Gloves

The HSE latex allergy website states that:

Allergic reactions to exposure to natural rubber latex (NRL) have increased significantly over the last ten years.

Unsurprisingly, part of their recommendation is:

Substituting to other glove materials where appropriate.

Latex gloves

Vinyl gloves
Powder free. Ideal for use in numerous industries including laboratories, clinical, food processing and automotive, & when latex allergy is a problem. AQL 1.5.

Available in sizes S, M & L.

Price:
£60.00 per case of 1000 gloves
Sempermed Blue Nitrile Gloves
Manufactured from a Nitrile Butadiene formulation which is free from all natural rubber proteins, making these gloves safe for use by people with latex allergy (Type I Reactions)

Sempermed Nitrile gloves have high elasticity which helps to reduce the strain on the hands when working for extended periods. The gloves have a textured surface right up to the cuff which ensures excellent grip in both wet and dry conditions.

These gloves are free of the abrasive and drying effects of dusting powder. This results in an added advantage, that there will be no contamination of the sample or assay.

Available in sizes S-XL.

Price: £74.50 per case (10 boxes of 100 gloves)

N-DEX® Free - Accelerator Free Nitrile Gloves
Due to the increase in prevalence of allergic reactions, many customers have moved away from latex gloves to other materials, most usually nitrile.

One of the most common complaints of nitrile gloves is their “feel”, especially when worn over long periods of time. Also, although latex-free, nitrile gloves still contain accelerators, such as thiurams, carbamates & benzothiazoles, which can cause Type IV Delayed Allergic Contact Dermatitis.

Manufactured by Best®, N-DEX® Free are the world’s first “Accelerator-free” disposable gloves. Furthermore, their patented formulation produces gloves that are softer than regular nitrile, making them more comfortable to wear over long periods of time, whilst still delivering up to twice the puncture resistance of ordinary natural rubber latex or vinyl gloves.

All N-DEX® Free gloves are textured to offer greater levels of grip, even when wet.

Available in sizes XS-XL.

KIMTECH SCIENCE STERLING® Nitrile Gloves

KIMTECH SCIENCE STERLING® nitrile is a new platform in nitrile glove technology. The new way of utilising synthetic nitrile polymer allows the production of a glove with a tip thickness of only 0.09mm, but with excellent tensile strength. This reduced glove weight can significantly minimise waste. The patented physical properties of the glove offer the fit and feel of latex, while providing the chemical and mechanical protection of nitrile.

· Contain no natural rubber latex, reducing the potential for Type 1 glove-associated allergic reactions
· Powder free minimising the effect of powder on the skin
· Excellent tactile sensitivity for easy handling of delicate instruments
· Beaded cuff for added strength and ease of donning
· Textured fingertip
· Ambidextrous
